Zelenogradsk is a small Russian town on the shore of the Baltic Sea. The town may become the most cat-loving community in Russia. First it opened the Museum of Cats Murarium, then a statue of a cat sitting in the window appeared. And since March 2018 the town has had a 'cats' cafe (a special place for feeding homeless cats) and a cat chief (a lady who looks after street cats and is paid for it). She wears a uniform: a bright green jacket and a hat and a black bow tie. The town has given her a bicycle and a certain sum of money to feed the town homeless cats and keep them happy. 2. Like many cities Istanbul has a problem with homeless dogs. They say over 150,000 of them live in the streets of the Turkish city. Their life is far from easy: to find food they have to dig through the trash. Now there is another option - vending machines (торговый автомат). You can find them around parks and public areas. These machines give food and water to homeless dogs. It's a wild idea, even wilder is how the machines work. They don't take money. They take plastic bottles. Why bottles? That's how the Turkish company Pugedon pays for dog's food using money it gets from recycling the bottles.
