1) Jack and his friends stayed in the house as long as they liked. I think they stayed until the robbers were completely gone and they felt safe. Perhaps a few days or until they needed to go home.
2) Of course, you know the German fairy-tale by the Brothers Grimm. It is different from this fairy-tale. The difference is that in the Brothers Grimm version, Jack is a mischievous boy who outsmarts the giants. This fairy-tale seems to be a simpler version focusing on bravery and friendship. I like this fairy-tale better because it shows how working together can overcome fear and danger.
